Cut properly, then timed to grow out well.

A four-chair shop built around unhurried appointments. Every cut is checked dry, finished by hand, and booked with a return date that suits how fast your hair actually grows.

The room

Four chairs, one bench, no rush

Maple Craft sits in a single long room with a bench by the window and four chairs down the wall. We keep the shop quiet enough to talk and warm enough to wait in, and we only take as many appointments as the four of us can finish properly.

Cuts are timed rather than squeezed. A fade gets forty-five minutes because the blend is checked dry, under the light, before anything is finished. If you want it shorter after that check, the extra pass is part of the same appointment.

  • TimingAppointments run on the half hour, with ten minutes between chairs for a proper clean down.
  • FinishHot towel, neck trim and a dry check are included in every cut, not charged separately.
  • Return dateYou leave with a suggested week to come back, based on how your hair sat last time.

Price list

What we cut, and what it takes

Prices are per appointment and include the dry check and finish. Longer or thicker hair is never charged extra — if a cut needs more time, we book the longer slot instead.

  1. 01

    Skin fade & taper

Clipper work from skin or a chosen guard, blended wet and corrected dry. Includes the neck and around the ears.

    45 min$34
  2. 02

    Scissor cut

For anything past two inches on top. Weight removed by hand so the shape holds as it grows rather than splitting at the crown.

    50 min$38
  3. 03

    Cut & beard

A full cut with the beard shaped to match: cheek line, neckline and length set together so the two read as one shape.

    70 min$52
  4. 04

    Beard architecture

Beard only. We map the lines to your jaw rather than a template, then finish the edges with a razor and hot towel.

    30 min$24
  5. 05

    Head shave

Clipper pass, lather and razor finish, then a cool towel and balm. Booked in the quieter part of the morning.

    40 min$32
  6. 06

    First cut — under twelve

An early slot with the booster seat, the clippers demonstrated before they go near anyone, and a parent in the next chair.

    30 min$20
  7. 07

    Tidy between cuts

Neck, ears and edges only, for the third week of a fade. Free for anyone with a cut booked in the next fortnight.

    15 min$12

What to ask for

Useful things to say in the chair

Most people arrive with a photo and no vocabulary, which is fine. These are the three questions we are asked most, answered the way we would answer them at the mirror.

Growing out a short cut

The awkward stage is usually the neckline and the sides catching up with the top, not the length itself. Say you are growing it out and we will cut for the shape you want in two months.

  • Ask for the sides left on a longer guard and softened, not faded to skin.
  • Book a tidy at three weeks for the neck and ears only — it buys you a month.
  • Keep the top untouched for the first two visits; weight is what you need.

Choosing a beard line

A cheek line drawn too high ages a face and takes weeks to recover. We set it where your growth is already strongest and tidy up to it.

  • Ask for the cheek line followed, then cleaned — not raised.
  • Keep the neckline a finger-width above the Adam's apple, no higher.
  • If you want length, say the number of weeks since your last trim, not a guard size.

A child's first cut

We keep the first appointment short and predictable, and we would rather do half a cut calmly than a whole one badly.

  • Book the 9am slot: the room is quiet and the clippers are the only sound.
  • Scissors instead of clippers is always an option — just ask when you arrive.
  • Sitting on a parent's lap is normal. So is stopping halfway and finishing next week.

The chairs

Who is cutting

Name a barber when you request a chair and we will hold one of their days. If you have no preference we will give you whoever has the slot that suits your return date.

Walk-in seats

Two chairs are kept free between 11am and 1pm, Tuesday to Friday, and they go in the order people arrive. Saturdays are booked appointments only — there is no walk-in list.

Last appointment

The last cut of the evening starts at 6.15pm so nothing is rushed at closing. If you need a late slot, Thursday evenings are the quietest to hold.

Running late

Up to ten minutes is fine and we will still do the full cut. Past that we may need to shorten the finish or move you to the next free slot, so a quick note helps.

Changing a booking

Reply to your confirmation any time up to the day before and we will move it. Nothing is taken in advance, so there is nothing to refund.

Request a chair

Tell us what you need and when

This is a request, not an instant booking — a barber reads it and replies with two slots that fit the service and your preferred days.

  1. 01We read it the same day the shop is open and reply by email.
  2. 02You get two slot options, with the barber named for each.
  3. 03Reply to confirm. Nothing is charged until you are in the chair.

Prefer to walk in? Two seats are held 11am–1pm, Tuesday to Friday.
